Dubai to Mumbai Rail Link?

Dubai has been a “ Survivor “ since ages, a transit port for exchange, reshipment, rest and recuperation. It was the GATEWAY to the famed HIND. It is once again showing why they are one of the most futuristic planners in the world today. A new, revolutionary travel concept is being planned to connect Mumbai and Delhi, and this can unleash a new wave of progress, development and continued relevance for UAE as gateway to the once again rising Modern HIND that is India.

It might be a little bizarre but, it is probable. According to a Khaleej Times report, UAE is looking to developing underwater rail network between Fujairah, UAE and Mumbai, India. In near future, resident of both nations might travel via undersea rail link. The report also stated that apart from the rail network for passenger transit, there are plans facilitating the exchange of goods from India to UAE and export of oil through a pipeline as well. The plan is to develop nearly 2000 kms undersea rail network, connecting Fujairah to Mumbai.

The connectivity plans to work both for passengers and exchange of oil and water. The passengers will travel in bullet like trains moving at around 300kms per hour and thus completing the journey in around 6 to 7 hours. The passenger coaches would enable comfortable undersea travel, even while cruising at over 300 km/hr speed. These will be MAGLEV trains or Floating trains which use magnate repulsion system ensuring lack of friction between tracks and the engine to enable swift transportation.

The trains literally levitate in the air, as two sets of magnets push and repel the train to move fast. Such rides are normally smoother, faster as they can accelerate and decelerate quickly. This form of rail travel is already enabled in Japan, Korea, Canada and South Korea, and countries like Australia, US, Israel and UK, China are planning to launch this very soon.

For transfer of water and oil, separate pipe lines will be embedded along the rail line. As per the plan being drawn, Fujairah port will enable transfer of oil from UAE to Mumbai and the Narmada’s water flowing into the sea can be transported from Mumbai port to UAE using the same rail network.

Abdulla Alshehhi said, “This is a concept. We plan to connect Indian city of Mumbai with Fujairah through ultra-speed floating trains. The project aims to boost bilateral trade.

There will be export of oil to India from Fujairah port and import of excess water from Narmada River, north of Mumbai. In addition, other GCC partners can also improve export and import,”

During UAE-India Conclave in Abu Dhabi, this concept was shared. It aims to improve travel between UAE and India, and also facilitate easy trade.

This is the concept of undersea, high-speed rail has been proposed by National Advisor Bureau Limited managing director and chief consultant Abdulla Alshehhi.National Advisor Bureau Limited is a consultancy firm, located in Masdar, UAE which is becoming a hub of startups in the Middle East.

Alshehhi further said that many facts are to be taken into consideration for this concept to take shape and become reality. There will be a feasibility study of the project first to find out whether it is possible for such a rail network to work. The total rail network between the two cities will be less than 2,000 Km.

This is not the first time someone has proposed an underwater rail network. Recently, the Chinese government approved a project to build the first ever underwater bullet train route in the country to connect Ningbo, Shanghai to Zhousan.
