Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has confirmed that a man jumped in front of a moving train at a metro station in north-east Delhi Friday afternoon.

The incident took place at GTB Nagar Metro Station which falls on the Yellow Line between Samaypur Badli and Huda City Centre in Gurugram.

A male passengered jumped in front of a train that was going towards Samaypur Badli at around 1 PM, said the official. The incident led to a brief delay in the operations of the Yellow Line, he added.

Latest reports suggest that the man was sent to a nearby hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, a police investigation into the matter is underway.

Similar incidents have been reported from across Delhi in the past with the most recent one from January of this year when a man jumped on the tracks of the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line allegedly to commit suicide.

He was taken to the Lady Hardinge hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Metro services were temporarily suspended on the Blue Line which connects Noida City Centre/Vaishali to Dwarka.

In September of last year, a woman had committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at the Chhatrapur metro station on DMRC’s Yellow Line which connects Huda City Centre in Gurugram to Samaypur Badli. The woman could not be identified by police or DMRC officials since she had no identification papers on her person at the time of the incident.
