Gujarat: Mother of youngest IPS officer toiled as labourer

The youngest IPS officer of Gujarat has proved that nothing is impossible in this world and you can overcome any kind of hardship. His house was bereft of any facility.
His mother rolled bread (rotis) for restaurants, marriage halls to make the ends meet. He met with accident just days before his Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) exam. The conditions were tough and there were challenges all around.
But the 22-year-old Hasan Safin was determined that nothing will stop him from fulfilling his dreams. In his childhood, there were days when Safin went to sleep empty stomach due to non-availability of food.
Finally, Safin’s hardwork’s was realised when he scored 570 all-India rank in the UPSC to qualify for Indian Police Service (IPS).
According to a report in News Agency, Safin says he will again appear for the UPSC exam next year to improve his ranking to become an IAS officer.
Speaking about his inspiration, Safin, a native of Kanodar village in Palanpur district of Gujarat, recalled a visit by Collector to his village. “The officer, escorted by armed bodyguard, once visited our village and addressed the people.
This was when I asked a village elder on how to become an officer like him. He said anybody can become an officer with hard work and passion. And from that moment I got the mission of my life,” the report quoted Safin as saying.
Safin’s parents once worked in Surat’s diamond unit. But when they were out job due to recession in the business, they resorted to odd jobs like making breads (rotis) for restaurants and marriage halls to run the house and fund Safin’s education. His father opened a tea stall to support the household income.
Safin was a bright student from his childhood. A school principal in Palanpur waived off his Rs 80,000 fee in class 11 and 12 after seeing his excellent academic record.
