This fresh incident took place in Ajabanla Bolpur rajatapurera in west bengal. The guy named Sheikh Hafizul, who is a mason, took nude pictures of the girl taking shower in the Bathroom. Allegedly Sheikh Hafizul was hiding in the bathroom.
He repeatedly raped the girl and threatened to leak the pictures. The girl was so traumatised that she set herself on fire. The girl suffered 90% burns.
She was immidiately transferred to the Burdhaman Medical college. A delegation of Sandheya BJP district vice-president Dilip Ghosh met the girl at home and also the delegation of Vishwa Hindu Parishad met her.
As the girl suffered 90% burns, the investigation agency needs to act quickly to take her statement.
As the victim is Hindu, Librals or NGO’s took no stand to support her. No protest or candle march recorded as the Trinamool Government is known for their Anti-Hindu stance.
Earlier, More than 100 cases were registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) in in West Bengal in the last three-and-a-half months, 2012, a report submitted by the State administration to the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) has revealed.
The highest number of such cases were reported from Bankura district (23), followed by Nadia (16) and Purba Medinipur (10). The children were in the age group of five to 17.
Among the 102 incidents reported to the WBCPCR so far, 45 were rape cases. As many as 223 children suffered molestation. Apart from information given by the police and District Magistrates, the report also includes about 31 cases where WBCPCR had taken suo motu cognisance of incidents of sexual abuse of children from media reports.
WBCPCR chairperson Ananya Chatterjee Chakraborti said the purpose of seeking the report was to ensure that cases of sexual abuse of children were strongly dealt with under the stringent POCSO Act. “Since we are the nodal agency for monitoring cases lodged under the Act, we should have an updated database of such cases,” she told The Hindu.
The report mentions incidents where even girls as young as four have been raped. A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Bankura’s Simlapal. In Purba Medinipur district’s Tamluk police station area, a five- year-old girl was raped.
Some children were raped by their family members. In North 24 Parganas, a 12-year-old girl was raped by her father and in Nadia district, a 14-year-old girl was raped by her uncle.
As per the latest National Crime Records Bureau report, about 1,100 cases under the POCSO Act were registered in the State in 2015.
In an another incident, Nearly two-and-a-half years after the rape of an elderly nun at Ranaghat in Nadia district, a city court in Kolkata convicted all the six accused in the case on Tuesday.
The 71-year-old nun was raped on March 14, 2015 when a group of bandits broke into the Convent of Jesus and Mary at Ranaghat, robbed the institution of cash and sexually assaulted her.
“While all the six accused have been convicted under Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, five of them have also been convicted under Section 395 (dacoity) of the IPC,” one of the government counsel Anindya Raut told The Hindu.
He also said that apart from Sections 120B and 395 of the IPC, the court has convicted one of the accused, Nazrul Islam, under Section 376 (rape) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354 A (sexual harassment) of the IPC.
“Another accused Gopal Sarkar, a resident of Bangaon in North 24 Paraganas, was convicted under Section 216 A (harbouring dacoits) for giving shelter to the accused.
