Patliputra BJP MP Approached Raksha Mantri To Interfere In Army Matters

The Member of Parliament from Patliputra and former Union minister Ram Kripal Yadav is also a member of the ruling BJP Party. He has complained to Shri Rajnath Singh, Raksha Mantri about personnel at the Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) stopping local government employees and the general public from using a common road that passes through the BRC settlement to Danapur sub divisional office on outskirts of the state capital. Yadav has sought Singh’s immediate intervention to avoid any “conflict” between the public and BRC personnel.

We hope the MP has already interested with the Station Commander or the Commandant Bihar Regimental Centre. He could have taken his grievance to the Sub Area Commander. The honourable MP should be aware that if the said road is on Class 1 military land that it is under total jurisdiction of the Army and akin to private property. For security reasons or for that matter any reason, all access to non military person can be closed or regulated as deemed fit. Even the Raksha Mantri cannot inter end in such matters.

The language used by the MP in his letter is not so honourable but rather pathetic. He writes “Army officials at the Danapur cantonment area often foment trouble over use of the common road… A new checkpost has been created on Danapur subdivision office road, which has been causing inconvenience to government employees and the common public… Earlier, the Army had closed Survey Road between Barrack Number 1 and Lodhipur and Chandmari… People feel so harassed.”

Naturally the BRC Adjutant Lt Col Sunil Kumar was not available for comments to the Press. The BRC had earlier said it was well within its power to close routes for security reasons.

The MP may contact the Cantonnement Board officials to find out if the said road is a Cantt Board Road or not. In case it is not a Cantt Board Road then he must approach the State Government for provisioning and construction of an alternative road, avoiding military land …..After all you cannot barge in into any private property or for any reason whatsoever compromise military security.
