A very popular city during the Hoysala Empire, Halebeedu is known for its temple complexes. Close to Mysore and Mangalore, this old city is known for ancient Hindu and Jain temples. The Hoysala dynasty ruled over most of South India for about 200 years. There is also a museum here that is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.
