Indians not at all impressed by China’s Naming Game

China’s Naming game in Arunachal has again been repeated after a few years. It makes no difference to us. We too can go back to calling Peking instead of Beijing.

China can keep expressing its displeasure over our interactions with the Tibetan Government In Exile, till Tibet regains its independence. Half-a-dozen of our Parliamentarians from various parties, including Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, attended a dinner hosted by the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile. Soon after that, Beijing termed Arunachal Pradesh as “South Tibet”. Should we re name Xinjiang immediately as Gausthan ….The old name when Indian Culture had thrived there once, till invaded and forcibly captured by the Chinese.

At least six Parliamentarians of the All-Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet had attended the dinner reception on 22 December at a Delhi hotel. The attendees included Maneka Gandhi and K.C. Ramamurthy of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jairam Ramesh and Manish Tewari of the Congress, and Sujeet Kumar of the BJD. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, hosted the reception.

Zhou Yongsheng, Political Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Delhi, wrote to the MPs concerned, “I have noticed that you have attended an activity held by the so-called ‘All-Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet’ and interacted with some members of so-called ‘Tibetan Parliament in Exile.’ I would like to express our concern on that. I have noticed that you have attended an activity…”.

This autocratic chap is unfit to be a diplomat and should be summoned to the Foreign Ministry and scolded by a Deputy Secretary level officer. Thereafter Zhou should be asked to give a written apology, failing which, he may be asked to leave the Country forthwith.

Zhou talks about the Chinese sensitivity of the Tibetan issue and has the temerity to ask us to refrain from providing support to the Tibetan independence forces. He forgets that his Country has not only forcibly captured a free Country Tibet but is also in illegal Occupation by force of a large part of Indian territory in Ladhak including Shaksgam Valley taken on sly from Pakistan Occupied Gilgit Baltistan Area.

Now time has come when Chinese leaders should start respecting India’s “sensitivity”. So also should the Chinese government, indeed the entire Communist Party of China. Mr Zhou, what about our sensitivities? About our soldiers who were treacherously attacked in the Galwan Valley.

Mr Zhou must be asked to tell his government to vacate entire occupied territory of India and then be ready to jointly demarcate the International boundary between India and Tibet. Thereafter through a tri lateral meet( India, China and Tibet ) demarcate the boundary between China and Tibet. Only then talk about trade and other things.

Also in case China keeps supporting Pakistan, and help it export jihadist terror to India and other countries, then we too henceforth must provide full moral and other support to the Quigher people to gain their true rights.

China calls the Talibans and Pakistani terror groups friends and in the same breath calls His Holiness the Dalai Lame a terrorist. This despicable behaviour hurts not only the sensitivities of all Indians and Tibetans but also the entire world. On top of it your Wuhan Virus that your country unleashed has killed millions of people across the globe.

The BJD’s Kumar was scathing in his reaction to Zhou’s letter: “Who is the Political Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy to write to a Member of Parliament of India, the largest democracy? How dare you send letters to Indian MPs? If anything, you can raise your protest through official channels. I think the MEA [Ministry of External Affairs] should take a stand.”

In response to China’s claims on “South Tibet,” the MEA has just strongly condemned the move. It went on to say that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. Further, it said, “assigning invented names to places… does not alter this fact.” Apart from issuing strongly-worded condemnations, India has not done anything substantial to check China’s belligerence and cantankerousness.

Now time has come for India to establish full diplomatic relationship with Taiwan and the Tibetan Government in Exile. Also the SFF capabilities be enhanced fully, so that it may be able to play its true role in any future conflict. We must also start referring to South China Sea as Philippine Sea and Natuna Sea in the respective areas. Our strategic relationship with Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia must be fully strengthened too.
