India Extends  Neighbourly Help To Sri Lanka In Crisis  

Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka today handed 40,000 MT fuel shipment from Indian Oil Company (IOC) to Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila.

The Indian High Commission in Colombo tweeted that the Indo-Sri Lanka Cooperation was working for Energy Security in Sri Lanka.

Earlier, the Energy Ministry had held discussions with India’s State-Owned IOC to procure 40,000MT of diesel and 40,000MT of petrol.

The Cabinet has also given a green-light to the proposal to purchase fuel from IOC.

Earlier Sri Lanka also  received a consignment of 100,000 Rapid Antigen Test( RAT ) Kits from India.

In a Twitter message, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said Sri Lanka is thankful to Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Bagley for the timely help.

“The partnership of our friends is vital at times like this & I am profusely grateful on behalf of the Sri Lankans people for this gift,” he added. State Minister Channa Jayasumana earlier said in Parliament that there was a shortage of RAT kits in the country, and therefore Sri Lanka is to receive a consignment of 400,000 RAT kits within the this week.
