The Israeli Air Force attacked the outskirts of the Syrian capital on Thursday at 11:05 p.m. local time

At least eleven high-ranking officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (a branch of the Iranian Armed Forces) were killed in an Israeli strike on Damascus International Airport in the small hours of Friday, the Al Arabiya television channel reported citing anonymous sources.

According to the sources, the Iranian officers “were welcoming a high-ranking delegation at Damascus’ airport.” The TV channel said that Nur Rashid, eastern Syria’s commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was wounded in the attack.

The Israeli Air Force attacked the outskirts of the Syrian capital on Thursday at 11:05 p.m. local time. As a spokesperson for the Syrian Armed Forces said, air defenses hit most of the missiles. The Al Hadath television channel said that the strikes targeted Damascus International Airport, which resumed its operation two days before.

On December 25, Razi Mousavi, a high-ranking general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed in an Israeli air strike, when three missiles hit his home in the Shiite area of Sayyida Zeinab in southern Damascus. The Iranian general coordinated the Shiite units fighting for the Syrian government forces.
