China must demarcate its boundary with Tibet

India made a major blunder in 1950s by not helping out Tibet to demarcate its borders with China. So in 1962 it had to pay a heavy price when it had to face a Chinese invasion both in Ladakh Region and Arunachal Pradesh.

India should not make the same mistake with respect to Taiwan.

Indian people must support Taiwan politically, culturally and economically. There is nothing called as “ one-China principles. Taiwan is an independent country in every sense of the word. Therefore there is nothing wrong whe Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was looking forward to having closer ties with the Taiwan region.

Modi made the remarks on Wednesday after Taiwan’s regional leader Lai Ching-te congratulated Modi on his election win. National Democratic Alliance was victorious once again in the country’s parliamentary elections on Tuesday, securing a third term, albeit with a narrower majority.

India has diplomatic relations with China and now must establish one with Taiwan also. A fuming China though opposes all forms of official interaction between the Taiwan authorities and countries that have diplomatic relations with China. India knows this well but then India nowadays decides its own foreign policy, it cannot be dictated by China or any other country.

While commenting on Modi’s remarks, Chinese foreign ministry said that there is but one China in the world. Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China, and the one-China principle is a “universally recognized norm in international relations and a prevailing consensus in the international community”.

China must take immediate action to vacate Indian territory, demarcate Indo Tibetan boundary, demarcate China Tibet boundary and then strive to restore freedom to the Tibetan people at the earliest.
