PM Modi’s visit to Russia provides stability to world geopolitics
Russia and India will continue to develop their relations and achieve new goals, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was the Indian-Russian cooperation which provided stability in the global energy market.
“The entire world should recognize that stability in the global market was provided owing to Indian-Russian cooperation in the energy sphere,” Modi said.
“The whole world faces the crisis in the fuel sphere but owing to our cooperation, we managed to avoid all kinds of difficulties for average citizens of India, we provide them with gasoline and diesel fuel,” the Prime Minister added.
“I can say with confidence, based on our past experience, that we will work together in the future, deepening all aspects of our cooperation and achieve new goals,” he said.
Modi thanked Putin for the warm welcome and congratulations on his victory in India’s June elections.
“We have achieved an unprecedented victory in the Indian elections, and I thank you for the wishes you have communicated. You also won elections in March and I congratulate you on that once again,” he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin also discussed the development of joint defence production, including production of new types of military equipment, said Foreign Secretary of India Vinay Kwatra said during a briefing.
According to the senior diplomat, Russia and India have several good examples of joint production in the defence area. He pointed out that the two leaders are very interested in developing this production, in adding new types of military equipment, new platforms, that could be included in the successful projects of Russian-Indian joint production.
Prime Minster Narendra Modi ended his two-day official visit to Russia and left Moscow from the Vnukovo airport.
The Prime Minister’s departure was accompanied by a solemn ceremony with a guard of honour . Modi was accompanied to the plane by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Indian Ambassador to Moscow Vinay Kumar and other officials.
The visit, which lasted between July 8 and 9, was Modi’s first foreign trip after his re-election. On Monday, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Novo-Ogaryovo in an informal environment. On Tuesday, the two delegations held official negotiations.
After the meeting in the Kremlin, Modi was presented with Russia’s first and highest state award – the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. According to the decree, Modi was honoured with this award “for his outstanding merit in development of the particularly privileged strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India, as well as friendly ties between Russian and Indian peoples.”
Last time, Modi had visited Moscow in 2015, and again visited in 2019, when he came to Vladivostok.
