India evaluating impact of unilateral US sanctions on Vostok Oil project, will take suitable measures

On January 10, US introduced sanctions against the Russian fuel and energy sector, the tanker fleet and the financial sector

India is considering an effect of unilateral US sanctions on the Vostok Oil project, said a source in the Indian government told reporters.

“We are considering and analyzing what effect it [the US sanctions ] will have,” the source said.

Indian companies are participating in the Vostok Oil project, he noted. On January 10, US introduced its unilateral sanctions against the Russian fuel and energy sector, the tanker fleet and the financial sector. Such unilateral sanctions are just not acceptable.

The Vostok Oil project was also included into the sanction list. India will take suitable measures after due evaluation to thwart the unilateral sanctions.
