A Combined Solar And Solar Power Park Planned In Gujarat With Over 41 GIGA WATT

Dated : 09 Dec 2020 (IST)

According to media news around six Firms are getting land allocation in Gujarat for establishing a combined hybrid Wind and Solar power plants for generating clean energy.

These Companies are Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), NTPC, GIPCL, GSEC, Adani Power and Suzlon,. SECI will be the largest generating around 23000 MW while NTPC will set up the plant for 5000 MW.

Then Suzlon will have a plant for 4000 MW, while Adani Power and GSEC each will generate 3500 MW. GIPCL will be the smallest with 2500 MW.

Hybrid projects are nowadays making more and more sense as renewable energy is not only a must for the survival of the Planet itself but is also becoming cheaper day by day.

Both Wind and Solar Power compliment each other and the plants can be a hybrid one to generate both kind of energy. This is also a reason for increasing construction for such plants for meeting power demands.

To meets its expanding energy needs, India has set an ambitious target of 175 gigawatts (GW) of new wind and solar power to be completed by 2022. India is trying its best in meeting that goal line by, the adoption of wind and solar energy in a hybrid form.

During various meetings on the subject, even higher targets have been discussed, but The final viable aim has been kept at 175 GW for the present.

Due to various factors, the contract prices for wind and solar in India have remained relatively high compared with more developed countries.

However the Indian economy was developing at breakneck speed pre Wuhan Virus and has now started picking up once again post Lockdown. India is still going to need a lot of power.

The government has pledged to bring more reliable clean power to its citizens. Thankfully, we finally have Our own Companies who are willing and have the capability to generate this kind of power.

A hybrid power plant with 41.5 GW worth of wind and solar is almost as much solar as is currently installed in the entire United States. This hybrid wind and solar power park has been approved for the Kutch district of Gujarat.
