A New “Achievement” By A Central Industrial Security Force Officer

Dated : 18 Dec 2020 (IST)

In India, ever since 1947, Police Organizations have been copying the Army blatantly in most of the ceremonial things including Uniform and badges of rank. The copying has been done so much so that they resemble an occupation force instead of looking like a Civil Police Force.

In late 1970s, the Combat Engineering Course at College of Military Engineering had started teaching the latest in camouflage techniques including how to defeat aerial and even satellite surveillance.

Aerial mapping of our country was under way to determine the Camouflage pattern to be developed for various terrain for …….. camouflage nets, Vehicle and tanks disruptive paintings and also new camouflage Combat dresses for the Army.

With lots of effort and expenditure, new combat dresses were developed and after trials, these got approved and issued to the Army in 1985. It is an uniform of the Army and as such vide Indian Law cannot be used by any other organization…private or Government.

During the 1989 Bhagalpur riots, just a platoon strength of a JAK Light Unit wearing this combat dress brought total peace in the entire Sabour Block next to Bhagalpur Town. Such was the awe if this new Uniform. Today Camo Uniform have become a FASHION STATEMENT for most of the Police Organizations and even non police.

Except CRPF / BSF units deployed in operational/ insurgency / Naxal areas, others should have no business to wear camo uniforms. Also even this should be done with due approval of the Ministry of Defence.

Next, quite sometime back the Chief of Naval Operations ( Navy Chief ) USA Navy, had shot himself with his service pistol. Why ? Because he had been wearing the ribbons of a medal on his chest for decades which he had actually not earned and was not authorized. This was pointed out to him by quite a junior officer.

Here in India it seems, Medal, Ribbons and Qualification badges have lost their sanctity. See the picture on top. A CISF Deputy Commandant is wearing a Combat Divers badge.

To earn this badge Naval MARCOS and Parachute Special Forces operators go through actual hell. The training is so tough that rejection rate may be up to 50% even when all are selected Special Forces troopers / officers.

However this Deputy Commandant has decided on his own that just two weeks familiarization course at Diving School for some SCUBA diving is good for his badge?

Someone ask him what was his CDO course no? Only a qualified Combat Diver is authorised to wear Diver badge on Left breast. A plain Sea Diver wears the badge on Right breast.

Para Special Forces from the Army are given the exception of wearing Sea Divers Badge on Left breast because of Para Wing and BALIDAN on the right. The funny part is that CAPF personnel do not u cargo any Sea Diving or Combat Diving courses at Naval Diving School at Cochin !!!

So some 5 week life saving course done by them seems to be good enough for this Deputy Commandant to put on a Combat Divers Badge and the DG CISF has permitted it with approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs ?

It’s like NCC cadets getting attached on-board ship for training and thereafter wearing Surface Warfare Badge or some Police Service Probationer coming to a Infantry Battalion for 3 months attachment and starts wearing the ribbons for one year service in that area.

That way the Navy conducts 4wk course for CQB and VIP protection at NSWTTC for regular QRT personnel of the Navy but they don’t start wearing MARCOS badge!!! Neither do some Coastal Policemen of Kerala Police post life saving course at Diving School!

At this rate all those Army personnel who undergo Course at Commando School Belgaum should be authorized to wear the BALIDAN badge. Well why not ….these things seem to be mere piece of metal or cloth !!!
