A Wake – Up Call For Chinese Communist Party

By

Colonel Awadhesh Kumar

A prominent member of the European Parliament, Mick Wallace, recently called on the EU to stop using “shared values” as a cover to engage India and use the country as a geopolitical tool to contain China’s development, which is “exactly what the Americans want to do when it comes to India.”

So the whole world is now slowly realizing that only country which can stand up firmly against China and chek mate each of its moves ….ping pong or checkers ….is India. This was amply demonstrated during Chinese aggressive moves to gobble up territory in Bhutan, the Maldive Crisis wherein the Chinese supported but electorally defeated President was just not ready to hand over power to the next and of course the Ladakh crisis wherein People Liberation Army of the Chinese Communist Party attacked the Indian Army physically in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh. The world has seen that militarily India is now no way inferior to China, no matter what the strategic Analysts may keep saying. The only thing missing is the Offensive capability to take the battle into China after liberating Tibet. This Void too is being filled up with completion of raising of one mountain strike Corps ie 17 Mountain Corps. The raising of a Second Mountain strike Corps may also be in the offing.

The EU should know that they are now in no position to play the the GREAT GAME of the British against India. So they must approach India only at bilateral level while engaging India economically, politically and strategically. They must drop any or all ideas of using India as tool to counter China or for that matter any other country.

Presently the whole World is concerned with the aggressive behaviour of China on many fronts. China, after becoming the leading manufacturer and supplier of the Worlds Logistics Chain began twisting tails of others and tried gaining undue advantages. At the same time it started showing its expansionist traits by it moves in the South China Sea / Nautuna Sea. It also tried to nibble some more Indian territory in Ladakh where it is already occupying territory since 1962. It is not ready to discuss giving freedom to the Tibetan people who have been completely inslaved since 1959. Also its HUMAN RIGHTS abuses in Xinjiang against the Quighers is growing and becoming a matter of great concern. China’s growing trade war with USA and Australia and many others is nowno more bilateral moves but have begun rocking the international trade balance.

So no wonder all those angry with China and anti-China forces, including those in the EU, are busy hyping up WTO and human rights Violations by China and trying to ring fence it with every thing possible. The truth is that China’s expansionisim and aggressive trade moves and development is seen as a threat by many countries and especially the ASEAN, Japan and Australia. Naturally others will all try out geopolitical schemes aimed at containing China’s. China has been doing the same since last few decades.

The world is undergoing profound changes since last few decades with rise of India and China. This is now going to be the Asian century, with global economic vitality, value chains and other vital international issues shifting toward the Asian-Pacific region.

Seeing this shift, the US and Western Europe will try to cling to their economic and strategic advantages and strive to maintain status quo. They will attempting to use unilateral actions and together with all the allies with “shared values”, will naturally try and contain China.

India, the world’s largest democracy by population and also the Worlds oldest, emerges as a strategic giant for the US and its followers to appease for containment of China. This the land of Suntzu and Confucious should be knowing quite well. So instead of making an enemy of India (which had never happened before 1962 ) they should be trying to make India its best friend.

China had already became India’s largest trading partner in 2020, which should be a loud wake-up call for the short-sighted Chinese Communist Party because now they are on the verge of loosing this huge market completely. In fact, as neighbours, China and India enjoy strong complementarities in economic and industrial structures, which can benefit both sides. It is cooperation with India instead of confrontation that will benefit China the most, especially if it wants to counter American moves.

Also slowly but surely, the global value chain is seeing certain transformation. A time will come certainly in the foreseeable future when global manufacturing will have shifted out of China to India, ASEAN and SAARC countries.

Therefore China must immediately try and mend its fences with India. As a start it must vacate all occupied territory in the Indian Union Territory of Ladakh and also seek permission from India for its CPEC infrastructures in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
