If Narendra Modi can visit temples, we can visit mosques: Asaduddin Owaisi to Muslims

Asaduddin Owaisi also said that the Muslims be treated as equals in the country and not as tenants.

“Hindustan ko aabad rakhna hai, hum Hindustan ko aabad rakhenge. Ham yahan par barabar ke shehri hain, kirayedaar nahi hain hissedar rahenge [have to keep India prosperous, we will keep India prosperous. We are equals, not tenants]” he said.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on Friday that Muslims need not worry about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s return to power, as the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion to every citizens.

The AIMIM chief, who was re-elected from Hyderabad for the fourth consecutive term, was addressing a Jalse-e-Youm-ul-Quran on the occasion of Jumat-Ul-Vida (last Friday of Ramzan) at Macca Masjid on Friday.

“If Modi can visit a temple we can visit our mosques, if Modi can go sit in a cave, we Muslims can also proudly say our prayers in mosques. Securing more than 300 seats is not a huge thing, Because India has a living Constitution. The 300 seats [of the BJP] cannot take away our rights,” Owaisi said.

“India’s law, Constitution gives us this permission that we follow our religion,” he said.

“Agar koi ye samajh raha hai ki Hindustan ke Wazir-e-Azam 300 seat jeet ke, Hindustan pe manmani karenge, nahi ho sakega. Wazir-e-Azam se hum kehna chahte hain, Constitution ka hawala dekar, Asaduddin Owaisi aapse ladega [If someone thinks that the country’s prime minister would do as he likes since he won 300 seats, it won’t happen. I promise that Asaduddin Owaisi will fight for India.]” Asaduddin Owaisi said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party capped a massive mandate by winning a total of 303 seats while the NDA has 353 MPs in the recently elected 17th Lok Sabha.

Slamming those behind the terror attacks on churches and luxury hotels in the island nation, Asaduddin Owaisi said there was no place for violence in Islam. The Islamic State group had claimed responsibility for the attack.

“Carrying out bomb blasts at a place of worship of someone else and killing more than 200 people, including 40 innocent children… what Islam are you talking about,” Owaisi said, adding, “The perpetrators were “following the teachings of the devil and not Islam.”
