Air Marshal Amit Dev, Air Officer commanding in Chief, Western Air Force : PoK Will Become A PART Of India One Day
Air Marshal Amit Dev who was earlier the Air Officer Commanding In Chief of the Eastern Air Force of the IAF has recently taken over as the Commander of the Western Air Force of the IAF. The Western Air Force or the Western Air Command looks after the Indian Air Space from somewhere in Rajasthan right Ladhak and then towards East includes Himachal and Delhi.
On 27 October 1947, the first battalion of the Indian Army had been airlifted by the Dakotas of the Indian Air Force and had landed at Badgam airport in Srinagar, just in for defence of Jammu and Kashmir. The previous evening, the State of J&K had signed the merger instrument, as done by other princely states a few months back, to become an integral part of the Indian Union.
However a power hungry Pakistan, after failing to get the princely state merged with the State of Pakistan, has attacked it with tribal hordes backed by the Pakistan Army. This landing of a full battalion in just one day was possible by seamless Air Movement Control established overnight by the Army Air Transport and Support School (AATSS), the smallest Category’ A’ Training Establishment of the Indian Army. Now a days the establishment is known as the Army Airborne Training School or the AATS. Thus Jammu & Kashmir was saved just in time and could not be forcibly captured by Pakistan as was done in 1954 with the independent State of Baluchistan and earlier the State of Swat.
However before the Indian Army could drive out all of Pakistani soldiers from Jammu & Kashmir, there was an UN sponsored Cease fire. This resulted in nearly one third of the State remaining under illegal possession of the State of Pakistan and is nowadays referred as Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
So on this special occasion, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal Amit Dev, Western Command of the Air Force addressed the soldiers.
Air Force officer Amit Dev said that Pakistan launched many operations to grab Kashmir, But our army never let Kashmir go into the hands of Pakistan. He said that the Indian Air Force and the Army had conducted the Budgam campaign. Not only this, the Indian Army has conducted many such operations, which have protected Kashmir and we have not allowed Kashmir to go into the hands of enemies.
He further said that we have full confidence that, PoK will be a part of India very soon and in the coming times the whole of Kashmir will be with us. Kashmir will also be completely free from terror. He said that the strength of the Indian Air Force is continuously increasing. The Indian Army is now ready to respond to every attack of the enemies.
It is for sure that for liberation of POK which includes Shakshagam Valley (presently under illegal Occupation of PLA ) the Western Air Force of the IAF is going to play Avery important role.
