ASEAN guide on responsible AI governance
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations on Friday launched a guide on the governance of artificial intelligence and ethics, seeking to promote the “responsible” use of the technology in businesses and governments within the region.
The guide, released following a two-day meeting of ASEAN digital ministers in Singapore, aims to help “organizations in the region that wish to design, develop and deploy traditional AI technologies in commercial and non-military or dual-use applications.”
In a joint statement, the ASEAN ministers underscored “the need to establish policies and guidance to spur the development of emerging technologies in a responsible and secure manner.”
The ministers from the 10-member regional bloc also agreed to establish a working group to discuss AI governance.
