Pakistan sponsored terrorists in fired at a bus in Reasi district of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir carrying pilgrims on Sunday and at least nine were killed after the vehicle fell into a deep gorge, officials said.
The bus was carrying pilgrims to the base camp of the famed Mata Vaishno Devi temple when it came under attack in the region’s Reasi district, senior administrative officer Vishesh Mahajan said.
A police officer said some of the victims had gunshot wounds and blamed the attack on Pakistan sponsored terrorists who are operating in Jammu & Kashmir to help Pakistan to rule Kashmir. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which also left 33 others injured.
The police officer spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to reporters.
Terrorist and few operating groups have been active since 1989 for merging Kashmir with neighboring Pakistan. The terrorism has been nearly eliminated. Also recent National elections has shown that democracy is thriving. A few separatists in Kashmiris still support the terrorists goal of having the territory, either under Pakistani rule or as an independent country.
The dying Kashmir separatist movement is Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, though Pakistan denies the charge.
Several thousand of civilians have been killed by terrorists and over ten thousands terrorists too have been hunted down. Though even government police forces and Army personnel have lost their lives in battling this terrorism.
About one third of Indian territory of erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir is still being held illegally by Pakistan. However India has made it amply clear that it intends to take it back.
