According to Ayurveda, these rules are defined on the basis of the composition of Vata, Pitt and Kapha in the body. Here, Vata represents movement; Pitta metabolism and Kapha structure and water. With the change in season, they all behave differently and their functioning largely depends on our eating and daily lifestyle. In the traditional medical system of Ayurveda, ‘Ritucharya’ refers to the dietary and lifestyle regimens that are based on 4 seasons. According to it, Vata is aggravated during Shravan and Bhado months and in the same month, Pitta functions start accumulating and causes health issues. And that’s why it is suggested to avoid foods like leafy vegetables and curd during these months.

It is mentioned in Ayurveda that during the month of Shravan, Vata is aggravated, and all food items which aggravates Vata should be avoided to keep the body fit. It has been proven that green leafy vegetables increase Vata, therefore, are prohibited in the month of Shravan. In the context of avoiding curd during Bhado, Ayurveda believes that one should avoid anything fermented including curd during the month of Bhado because this is the time when Pita aggravates and causes health issues.
