Beijing hits out at Washington’s pursuit of its hegemony
Wang Wenbin said Washington was a vivid example of “being a disruptor of international rules”
All American officials care about is maintaining US hegemony worldwide, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, said on Monday.
Commenting on a recent joint statement by the United States and Japan, Wang said, “History has repeatedly shown that the United States never cared about either rules or [the world] order. All it does care about is the preservation of US hegemony.”
He said Washington was a vivid example of “being a disruptor of international rules.” According to Wang, the US previously “invaded other countries,” imposed unilateral sanctions and resorted to “coercive diplomacy.”
In the joint statement on Friday, US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the Indo-Pacific faced “growing challenges, from actions inconsistent with the rules-based order by China or provocations by North Korea.”
