BRAHMOS test fired From INS VISAKHAPATNAM

India successfully test-fires BrahMos supersonic cruise missile off Western coast

India on Tuesday conducted a successful test fire of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from Indian Navy destroyer Indian Navy Ship  INS VISHAKHAPATNAM. The sea to sea variant of the missile was test fired at the maximum range and hit the target ship with utmost accuracy, informed Indian Navy sources. The latest test fire of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile by the users comes a month after the successful testing of an air version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in December.

Earlier on 26 December 2021, Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh stressed on the need to maintain nuclear deterrence and also talked about manufacturing the BrahMos cruise missiles deter all enemy nations. He wax speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Defence Technologies and Test Centre and BrahMos Manufacturing Centre in Lucknow.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said, “The BrahMos missile and other weapons we are manufacturing are not to attack any other country. It has never been the character of India to attack any other country or grab even an inch of land of any country”

The BrahMos supersonic missile, is a multi-role and multi-platform weapons system and has already proven its mettle against a varying range of targets. It has been deployed in all three arms of the Indian armed forces. The current maximum range is 450 km. An extended 800 km version is in advanced stages. There is a 1500 km air version on the anvil.

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile reaches Mach 2.8 to 3 Mach speed and cannot be intercepted easily. In case 2 or more missiles are fired simultaneously at the Chinese aircraft carriers then they will be able to do nothing much. The much taunted Chinese DF 21 of which even the American Navy seems to be scared enough is nowhere near the BRAHMOS. Imagine our SUMKI3 s armed with 800 km range Brahmos patrolling off Vietnam Coast. Will the PLAN dare to venture out ? A food for thought for them.
