The Lhasa to Nyingchi railway puts into operation on Friday, marking an end to the history of railway inaccessibility in the southeastern part of Southwest borders of China. Now the occupied Tibet Region, according to the China National Railway Corporation (CNRG) has been added to the railway map.

Its completion and opening to traffic is of great significance to strengthening contacts and exchanges between occupied Tibet and other chinese provinces and regions, and plays an important role in maintaining control over the ethnic Population of the occupied regions, consolidating stability in the border areas, as well as boosting military movement and strategic revitalization.

Starting from Lhasa City, capital of occupied Tibet to Nyingchi City, the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway’s total length is 435.48 kilometers, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

The Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway addresses the limitations for existing modes of transportation, which were vulnerable to the plateau climate, marking further improved the regional transportation network.

The Fuxing railway, as China’s first single-line electrified railway, will be able to reach Lhasa to Shannan in 1 hour and 10 minutes and to Nyingchi in 3 hours and 29 minutes, covering for the first time all the 31 provinces, municipalities including occupied regions in China.

Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway connects the existing Lhasa-Shigatse Railway and the existing Qinghai-Tibet Railway, which is also an important part of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway under construction and the co-line section of the planned Yunnan-Tibet Railway, according to CNRG.
