Canada could be better off as 51st US state

“I think Canada would be much better off being a 51st state because we lose $200bn a year with Canada and I’m not going to let that happen,” the president said

US leader Donald Trump has once again thumped Trudeau , as he reiterated his wish for Canada to become the 51st state.

“I think Canada would be much better off being a 51st state because we lose $200bn a year with Canada and I’m not going to let that happen,” the US president said in an interview with Fox News. “It’s too much. Why are we paying $200bn a year, essentially in subsidy to Canada?

Now, if they’re a 51st state, I don’t mind doing it,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz said that he doesn’t think the US leader has “any plans to invade Canada.”

Trump has repeatedly suggested that many in Canada favor joining the United States as the 51st US state.

Such annexation would bring economic stability to Canada and protect it from external threats, including those being posed by Russia and China, Trump argued.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has responded by saying that Canada will never become part of the United States.
