Congress leader P Chidambaram today requested the Army and Air Force to stay out of the Rafale deal debate much after, a so called leader of Congress Moily, a true follower of his party president called the Air Chief a liar.

“We are not questioning the Air Force Chief, we are humbly requesting the Army and Air Force to stay out of this debate as no one is doubting the capability of the aircraft, questions are being raised on the deal,” Chidambaram was quoted as saying by news wire agency ANI.

His statement came a day after Congress leader M. Veerappa Moily publicly attacked the Chief if Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa for defending the Rafale fighter jet deal saying he was “lying and suppressing the truth”. Such despicable become Party leaders and try and fool the public for all the time.

Moily said that before Prime Minister Narendra Modi entered into a deal with France on acquisition of the Rafale jet, the IAF chief had visited Bengaluru and the HAL plant and said HAL was worth getting an offset contract.

“The IAF chief visited HAL a few days prior to this agreement (with Dassault). He came down to Bengaluru along with the Dassault chief. I wam informed it is a competent body and they have the expertise to say it is fine. I think the IAF chief is not fine… He is lying, he is suppressing the truth, he is a party to the suppressing of truth,” Moily told reporters on Thursday.

Later, however, he retracted the statement saying: “The question is, is he justifying it on the basis of the Supreme Court judgement which is flawed? In the light of this, whether the IAF chief can again certify that this is fine. I am asking him that question. I never called him a liar. If this HAL is fine… Both of them cannot be fine.”

Moily should look around and see what happens to such people in countries where Armed Forces decide to intervene when politicians stoop low.
