China’s renaming places in Arunachal Pradesh should be both laughed out and poked
Playing Chinese Checkers, Beijing has released names of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh in Chinese characters, Tibetan and pinyin after approval by the Communist Party controlled State Council or China’s cabinet in short.
The Communist Party’s ministry announced the names of 11 places on Sunday and also gave precise coordinates, including two residential areas, five mountain peaks, two rivers and two other areas. China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs also listed the category of places’ names and their subordinate administrative districts, as per the news report.
As Arunachal Pradesh has always been, and will always be an integral part of India. Assigning invented names to places in Arunachal Pradesh by China will not alter the fact and India will not vacate the place.
India has out rightly rejected China’s attempt to rename places of Arunachal Pradesh, Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Tuesday.
He asserted that Arunachal Pradesh will always be an integral part of India. He further said, “Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India. Attempts to assign invented names will not alter this reality.”
As per the Global Times itself, this is the third batch of geographical names for places in Arunachal Pradesh announced by the Chinese Communists Ministry.
As per the news report, the first batch of the standardized names of six places was issued in 2017, and the second batch of 15 places was released in 2021.
Well what other countries and International media should ask – what happened to the use of those names. Like Peking became Beijing, are the Chinese names being used by any one. Even the Global Times must have forgotten those names given earlier.
Earlier, in December last year, the Indian government said that it has seen reports of China attempting to rename some places in Arunachal Pradesh “in its own language” and asserted that the border state has been and will always be an integral part of India.”
However this game can be played by both sides. Though in response of Chinese Checkers we should play Ludo.
So first of all a suitable Sanskrit or Pali language name should be Chosen for Peking or is it Beijing now ? This name we will say was chosen in the times of Emperor Ashoka by the Buddhist monk.
Next we should re name certain places in Yunan ( now a province of China ) with suitable Indian names. Similarly we can request the Tibetan Govt in Exile to rename a few places in Sichuan province in China with Tibetan names.
Also Arunachal is a beautiful place to visit from May to October. So starting with our External Affairs Minister followed by the Home Minister and Raksha Mantri and finally the Prime Minister himself should pay a visit to both Itanagar and Tawang.
Then at an appropriate time we can request the Tibetan Govt in Exile to hold a parliamentary session in Tawang wherein our Chairman of the Rajaya Sabha should give a speech.
