Commander of U.S. INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND Calls on Navy chief

Admiral John C Aquilino, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command is on visit to New Delhi. The four star Admiral was accorded a formal welcome in New Delhi with a guard of honour at the South Block. He then after calling on the Raksha Mantri, called upon Admiral R Hari Kumar, the Chief of Naval Staff.

The American commander discussed various avenues to further enhance the existing cooperation between the Navies in general and between the Eastern Naval Command and the Indo Pacific Command in particular.

Defence cooperation has been a critical element of Indo-US relations. Towards ensuring Free, Open and Inclusive Indo-Pacific, the American Admiral discussed avenues with CNS to further enhance the existing cooperation between two Navies through capability enhancement and cooperative engagements, tweeted the Indian Navy’s spokesperson.

After the India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue earlier this month where the US had supported India as a defence industry leader in the Indo-Pacific and a net provider of security in the region, these are the next series of visits.

Since in the American scheme of things, the US Naval Chief is not in direct chain of Command of theatres, it is the Commander of the Indo Pacific Theatre who has come for the visit. However our Southern theatre or the Maritime theatre (responsible for Indo Pacific) is still to come.
