Congress Stoops Another Low when its one of the important leader in Gujarat made such a pathetic statement.
Days after Congress veteran Mani Shankar Aiyar’s “neech” remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi created a furor, Rahul Gandhi’s Gujarat ally Alpesh Thakor has said that PM Modi was a “dark” person, but has become “fair” because of eating imported mushrooms worth Rs 4,00,000 a day. Speaking at a rally in Gujarat, Thakor said that PM Modi easts five mushrooms, each worth Rs 80,000, every day.
Someone told me that what Modiji eats, you can’t eat because it’s not ‘poor people’s food’. So I asked what such food does he eat? He said he eats mushrooms. I asked what was wrong in that, mushrooms are widely available. He said that he doesn’t like the ones we eat, the ones he eats are from Taiwan and the cost of one mushroom is Rs. 80,000,” Thakor said.
“I asked him if he was serious, he said yes, and Modiji eats 5 mushrooms everyday. I asked if this was happening since he was elected PM, they said no, it’s been going on ever since he was the Chief Minister. I joked that that’s why he was as dark as me, how did he become so fair? I saw his photo of 35 years ago, he was as dark as me, now how is he so fair. So understand this, a Prime Minister who can eat mushrooms worth 4 lakhs every day, mushrooms worth 1 crore 20 lakhs every month, he won’t like regular meals, that is just a farce,” he further added.
When confronted by Times Now, Thakor said, “We are children, we will say it. Now it depends on PM Modi to respond.”
Earlier, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has called for ending the evil of casteism in the wake of a controversy over senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s ‘neech’ remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Responding to the Aiyar’s remarks, Ramdev said, ”God has created everyone equal and there should be no discrimination on the basis of caste.”
“We all are children of one God then how can caste and religion come in between? When the God has given equal knowledge and conscience to everyone, then I do not think there should be any discrimination on the basis of caste and religion,” the yoga guru was quoted as saying by ANI.
Ramdev further said everyone should come together and eliminate the evil of casteism.
On December 7, Aiyar had said, “This person (Prime Minister Modi) is a ‘neech aadmi’ (low-minded). He is not civilised and in a situation like this, there is no need to practise such dirty politics.”
It is believed that Aiyar was responding to PM Modi’s allegations against the Nehru-Gandhi family regarding the alleged “bad treatment” meted out to Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
Prime Minister Modi had said this while attacking Congress at an election rally in Gujarat on December 7.
“They can call me ‘neech’. Yes, I am from the poor section of society and will spend every moment of my life to work for the poor, Dalits, tribals and the OBC communities. What all have they called us – donkeys, Neech, Gandi Naali Ke Keede; they can keep their language and we will do our work,” further said.
Following the remark, Congress suspended Aiyar from the primary membership of the party.
However, Aiyar clarified that the word ‘neech’ holds different meanings, adding he would want to apologise for the wrong translation.
