Corona curfew in Uttar Pradesh extended till May 6 morning to arrest Covid – 19 spread
UP Lockdown Extended : The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the coronavirus-induced curfew in the entire state till May 6.
The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the coronavirus-induced curfew in the entire state by two more days. As per the latest order, the restrictions will remain in place in all 75 districts till May 6 morning. The restrictions were slated to be lifted on Tuesday (May 4) morning. This is the second extension of lockdown-like curfew in the country’s most populous state.
“The corona curfew from Friday 8 pm to Tuesday 7 am has been extended for 48 hours. Now it will continue till May 6 till 7 am,” Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Navneet Sehgal said.
Night curfew will continue to be in force in all the districts from 8 pm to 7 am daily. The order said that only essential services will be allowed during the lockdown and night curfew.
Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a spurt in coronavirus cases over the past few weeks. Currently, the state has more than three lakh active cases.
The state reported 303 more COVID-19 deaths on Saturday, pushing the fatality count to 12,874. As many as 30,317 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 12,82,504. A total of 9,67,797 people have been cured of the contagion so far. Of the fresh cases, as many as 3,125 were reported from Lucknow, 1,514 from Kanpur, 1,497 from Varanasi, 1,470 from Gautam Buddh Nagar, 1,274 from Allahabad, 1,236 from Meerut, 1,204 from Ghaziabad and 1,070 from Gorakhpur, among others.
