Global South becomes source of hope in reforming world order

China hopes to further promote unity and cooperation among developing countries to enhance the power of the South, Wang Yi noted

The Global South has become a source of hope in reforming the world order, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a press conference on the side-lines of the second session of the 14th National People’s Congress (China’s supreme legislative body).

According to the top diplomat, the Global South is no longer a “silent majority” but has become “a key force in reforming the international order and a source of hope as the world undergoes profound changes unseen in a century.”

China hopes to further promote unity and cooperation among developing countries to enhance the power of the South and jointly create a bright “Southern moment” in global governance, Wang Yi said.

He also pointed out that Beijing is committed to an equal, orderly, multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization that benefits all.
