Hero Cycles has launched Lectro EHX20, India’s first centre motor e-cycle, in partnership with Yamaha Motor Company. Lectro EHX20 is priced at Rs 1.30 lakh.
Lectro EHX20’s motor has been imported from Yamaha’s electric drive unit, while the e-cycle has been manufactured at Hero Cycles’ Ghaziabad unit with the remaining components sourced locally.
Unlike several e-cycles that come with rear hub motors, Lectro EHX20 has a centre motor positioned between the pedals. It runs on a combination of manual pedalling with battery assist.

Lectro EHX20 is powered by a triple sensor technology — torque sensor, speed sensor and crank sensor. The e-cycle comes with a powerful braking system. It can cover a distance of 60-70 km in 3.5 hours of charge.
Lectro EHX20’s motor has been imported from Yamaha’s electric drive unit.
The new e-cycle does not require a driving license. The electronic top speed of Lectro EHX20 is 25 kmph. It can touch 35 kmph if paddled manually.
Lectro EHX20 comes with a powerful braking system.
An outcome of the three-way alliance between Hero Cycles, Yamaha Motor Company and Mitsui & Company, Lectro EHX20 is aimed at the growing community of adventure lovers and mountain cyclists.
