New Delhi: Aadhaar is one of the most important documents in the country. Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the government to the resident citizens by taking a person’s biometric details like iris scan and fingerprints, and demographic information such as DOB and address. Keeping Aadhaar updates is extremely important and you can update a lot of details in Aadhaar online if your mobile number is registered with UIDAI.

However, in case you have lost your number or want to update your mobile number in an Aadhaar card due to some other reason, you can get it updated in UIDAI’s database by visiting an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. Note that mobile number can not be registered or updated online.

How to change or update mobile number in Aadhaar online: Mobile number can be updated in Aadhaar through offline methods only, as the UIDAI has abolished the online method to avoid the misuse of personal details. Though you have to visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra to get your mobile number updated, you can download the application form for the same through the online method and save yourself some time. For that purpose, you need to have your existing mobile number linked to an Aadhar card.

You can generate an application form for this purpose online by visiting the official portal of Aadhaar ( https://ask.uidai.gov.in/). Login by entering your mobile number and captcha. Once you have entered and crosschecked the details, click on ‘Send OTP’. Then, enter the received OTP and click ‘submit OTP and process’.

How to book appointment and download mobile number update form:

Step 1. Click on update Aadhar and the next screen will show you options – Name, Aadhaar Number, Resident Type, and what do you want to update, etc.

Step 2. Since you want to link your mobile number with Aadhaar, fill all the mandatory fields and select ‘Mobile Number’ under ‘what do you want to update’ section.

Step 3. Enter your mobile number and captcha. Fill all the fields and click on ‘Send OTP’. Enter and verify the received OTP and click on ‘Save and Proceed’.

Step 4. Crosscheck all the details one last time and click on Submit.

Step 5. In the next step, you will see a success Screen with your Appointment ID. Click on the ‘Book Appointment’ option to book a slot at the Aadhaar enrollment centre.

Step 6. Once you click the ‘Book Appointment’, you need to search for an enrolment centre. There are many options to search for an enrollment centre using centre name, Pincode, state, etc. Pick any one option which is convenient for you and click on get details.

Step 7: The portal will show you a list of nearby enrollment centres; pick one and choose the date and time slot as per your convenience by clicking ‘Book Appointment’. Crosscheck details once again and click on confirm.

You will get an Application form in PDF format when you click on confirm. You can save it and get a print out of the same before going to the enrollment centre. You can also book a slot through the mAadhaar app. You can also directly download the Aadhaar Update Form.

How to change or update mobile number in Aadhaar offline:

Step 1. Visit the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre

Step 2. Fill the Aadhaar Update Form. Enter only your present mobile number in the form. If you have already filled the form, submit it to the executive.

Step 3. The executive will register your request

Step 4. You will be handed over the acknowledgement slip containing the URN (Update Request Number)

Step 5: A fee of Rs 50 is charged for availing this service

It is worth mentioning that there is no need to provide any document to update/change your mobile number. Just download and fill the Aadhar correction dorm and submit it along with the updation charge of Rs 50. You can track your Aadhaar update status online through UIDAI website using the URN given by the executive.
