Humour in international affairs : Pakistan “Rejects” Indian Actions on Article 370
Humour in uniform was an iconic feature in the Readers Digest. The monthly digest’s publication has been closed. However Pakistan seems to have initiated a new series which can be aptly called HUMOUR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS.
The Indian Constitution was enacted by the India’s Parliament as the Sovereign authority. Naturally only the Supreme Court of India has any authority to adjudicate on any legal aspects pertaining to it. In 2019 the India Parliament following the due process abolished Article 370 of the Constitution, which as it is was temporary in nature.
Then some people, as per provisions in Indian law approached the Supreme Court and challenged the decision of the Sovereign Parliament. The Court reviewed everything and found that every thing was as per the provisions laid down.
However in a most bizarre happenings in International Affairs, Government of Pakistan has rejected the latest order by the Indian Supreme Court, which upheld its earlier ruling that endorsed the Parliaments actions and based on it all the actions of Government of India’s abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution.
“We reject the fresh order of the Indian Supreme Court just as we had rejected the earlier order of December 11, 2023. Two verdicts fail to recognise the internationally recognised disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir… Indian Supreme Court judgments cannot distract the international community’s attention from the gross and systemic human rights violation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said at her weekly press briefing.
She said Kashmiris had an inalienable right to self-determination as enshrined in the UN Security Council’s resolutions. India has no right to make unilateral decisions on the status of disputed territory against the will of parties in the dispute — Kashmiris and Pakistan, she added.
Well India brooks no interference in its internal affairs from any Country on this planet nor from any external organizations or establishments, not even from the UNO. So Pakistan can go running to anyone but it will not change the actions of India, after all India has not amended any provisions in the Constitution of Pakistan.
However if Pakistan is so interested then the next action of Indian Parliament can be to derecognize the Radcliffe Line because it was drawn by a foreigner and also to derecognize the legality, validity and applicability of Indian Partition Act 1947 enacted by a foreign country located thousands of mile away.
