India China Stand Off At Naku La Pass In Sikkim, Matter Resolved

As per a report published by Hindustan Times, several China soldiers had an intense face-off with Indian soldiers along the Indo Tibetan border in north Sikkim Sector on Saturday. Hindustan Times attributed this news to two senior officials on the condition of anonymity.

As per the report over 150 soldiers were involved on both sides at a place near Naku La pass located ahead of Muguthang area at altitude of over 5000 mtrs. The face off led reportedly to some heavy scuffle between the two forces.

The confrontation was so intense that soldiers at both sides suffered many injuries as they exchanged bows. However none resorted to use of weapons, which would have been tragic.

In 1967 it was in nearby Nathu La Sector that the Chinese had received heavy casualties and learnt a lesson, so as not to repeat their 1962 mistakes of crossing into Indian territory.

“Four Indian soldiers and seven Chinese troops suffered injuries during the confrontation that involved around 150 soldiers,” said the second officer cited above, while also saying that the matter was later resolved locally.

However, according to the HT report, officials at the Army Headquarters said they had no knowledge of any such face-off.
