India determined to maintain high level of interaction with Russia
Pavan Kapoor reiterated that as the current president of the G20 and the SCO, India will hold meetings within the framework of these organizations.
New Delhi remains committed to maintaining a high level of interaction with Moscow, and a chain of events at the ministerial level is scheduled for this year, Indian Ambassador to Russia Pavan Kapoor said on Thursday.
“So we are determined to keep up this high-level of interaction. We have, despite the challenges, been keeping up with our engagements over the last year,” Kapoor said, speaking online during the conference entitled ‘India-Russia Strategic Partnership: New Challenges and Opportunities in a Changing World Order’.
The diplomat also mentioned regular contact and phone calls between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, including their meeting in Samarkand on the side-lines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
“This is apart from other ministerial interactions that we have had and we will continue to have during the course this year,” he stressed.
He reiterated that as the current president of the G20 and the SCO, India will hold meetings within the framework of these organizations. “We’re expecting Foreign Minister Lavrov to visit several times. And these are multilateral occasions, I’m sure we’ll have occasion to discuss bilateral issues,” the diplomat added.
