India Has No Ukraine Dilemma Whatsoever

India’s abstention vote both in the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly with regard to Russia’s action in Ukraine has not been liked by most of the West European Countries and of Course the United States of America. They do not constitute even 30 % of the World population but like to pose as if they represent the majority on the international stage.

The Western Press is applying a simplistic black-white binary logic of …. If you are not with us then you are with the enemy. They have dubbed India’s decision as a endorsement of Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the hard world of realpolitik decisions India too has decided to act in its National interest each and every time. India is fully aware of Ukraine’s actions in the past especially on Kashmir and how they have been supporting Pakistan. India is also aware of the Great Game being played by USA and NATO in the Ukraine.

India has always been against wars but knows that at times MAHABHARAT becomes inevitable. So even while telling Russia to solve the crisis diplomatically through bi lateral talks with Ukraine, India is not going to ditch Russia at any cost.

India has had solid relations with the Soviet Union encompassing cultural (Lal top russi), economic (heavy engineering, Steel plants) and defence (nuclear, space, fighter jets, tanks, helicopters, transporters, artillery guns, missiles) ties which dates back to late 1950’s. The 1971 Bangladesh war is still very fresh on the Indian mind.

Rouge Nixon and his Poodle from the British Isle had left no stone unturned to coerce India. India was able to fend off both the villains only due to all out Russian support. on August 9, 1971, India and the Soviet Union had signed a “Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation”.

Apart from supplying weapons and equipment, tailing the American and British Naval task forces, Russia had also deployed 40 division along its border with China.

Today, India too has decided to stand Up and refuse to support the boycott of Russia by the Western Countries. In the current changing geo-political dynamics India has decided to take its place as the fourth balancing corner. The other three being Russia, China and the United States.

India is fully aware that Russia’s relationship with China has undergone a change from the 1970s when they were pitted against each other due to territorial disputes and even differences in Communism methodologies. However India is also fully aware that just in case China again tries any thing funny along the Himalayas, Russia at the most is going to stay neutral.

That is quite ok with India, as now even China is aware of both India’s capabilities and abilities. India Armed Forces are capable of out matching PLA in every department of Warfare. Also the Indian Navy and IAF will at once take the battle into India’s Ocean that us the Indian Ocean and choke the Chinese jugular vein in the form of trade lanes passing through. China has also realized the Western game and is unlikely to make an out right enemy of India at least in the immediate future.

Therefore Shri T.S. Tirumurti, India’s permanent representative to the UN rightly remarked: “India is deeply concerned at the recent turn of events in Ukraine. The contemporary global order has been built on the UN Charter, international law, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

All member states need to honour these principles in finding a constructive way forward. Dialogue is the only answer to settling differences and disputes, however daunting that may appear at the moment. It is a matter of regret that the path of diplomacy was given up. We must return to it. For all these reasons, India has chosen to abstain on this resolution.”

Thus India shown due respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and our reservation on forsaking the path of dialogue. Thus India is able to reaching out to both Russia and Ukraine to foster diplomacy.

Also a Word to the Western Bloc. Better they should respect India’s decision. Any adversarial action to coerce India on their part will be injurious to their own health.
