Indo – USA cooperation in Tech has no bearing on New Delhi Beijing Relationship

India has the potential to play a big role in generating new and future technology. The entire World seeks India as a possible partner in the race for technological innovation.

No wonder even the U.S., which feels it is lagging behind China, is exploring areas of cooperation with rising India in critical and emerging technologies, including semiconductors, fighter jet engines, space flight, telecommunications, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence. This initiative is driven by their huge concerns about China’s ambitions and the USA aims to diversify from China.

India’s strengths in the tech competition include its large domestic market, which offers opportunities for manufacturing and selling products. India also has a young and tech-savvy population, highly qualified IITs and RECs, making it an attractive destination for tech companies. Additionally, India has a significant amount of skilled labour. India can easily meet the need for more skilled workers to sustain a large influx of Foreign companies. Americans know that their tech industry has been sustained by Indians ex IITs and other Indian Engineering colleges.

Therefore now U.S. realizes that unlike China, India can be a trusted technology partner that could become a key supplier in the entire electronics supply chain, not just semiconductors. Collaboration with India could help USA and Western countries to reduce their reliance on Chinese technology. This way West can enhance competition against China.

However it is important to note that while India has the potential to help USA to their tech competition with China, can India really trust USA. So while India will cooperate with USA but on its own term.

Also it will be never as a competition to China. We Indians know how to deal with China. After all we as neighbours have been the top two economies ( India having 30 % of World’s GDP and China 25% ) of the World for thousand of years and till early 1700s.In fact once again presently China is on top and India at No3, Purchasing Power Parity wise, with USA in-between.

After playing Ping Pong for long, the U.S. is now seeking to deepen its alliances in Asia and restrict Chinese access to critical U.S. technologies. The time has come for USA to learn to play Chaupar or Pacchisi, Even Ludo will do.
