Iran, Russia to Neutralize Western Sanctions
The sides also discussed the issue of extension of credit facility to Iran by Russia
Both Iran and Russia have been able to neutralize the influence of sanctions through the development of bilateral cooperation, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ouji said following a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in Tehran on Wednesday.
“Our countries are under strict sanctions, and we have the potential to neutralize them through the development of bilateral relations,” he said. “Bilateral meetings were held between representatives of ministries and various agencies of the two countries” in connection with Novak’s visit, according to the minister. “We have created joint committees on banking, energy, transport, agriculture issues, as well as the issue of creation of nuclear power plants,” he noted.
The sides also discussed the issue of extension of credit facility to Iran by Russia, the minister added. “We discussed the issue of a $5 bln loan <…>. Part of this amount has already been provided, and today we discussed the remaining part,” he said.
