Kangana Ranaut is one the most outspoken actresses in the Indian film industry. She never shies away from taking a stand and voice her opinion about things that bother her. Recently, the 30-year-old actress spoke up on the Zaira Wasim molestation case.

The incident unfolded when the Dangal actress was travelling through a Vistara flight and the man sitting beside her put his foot on her armrest. A teary Zaira narrated the entire incident through a live video on social media and also captured the leg of the accused passenger.

But while many people including certain celebrities came out in support of Zaira, she was also heavily trolled for exaggerating a small issue and making false claims.

When Kangana was asked to comment on the incident and the trolls faced by Zaira, she expressed her disappointment by how people are criticizing the actress rather than praising her for speaking up.

“The backlash this young girl is getting is so upsetting. Instead of lauding a girl for speaking up, people are judging and questioning her, “said Kangana at an event held to launch Shobhaa De’s book.
Kangana added that how it’s important to raise a voice against something wrong and unjustified.

“If I don’t talk, someone else will. It is not that if I don’t talk and act like an ostrich, no one will bring it to notice. I have always had options (to let things go) but I won’t succumb to that,” she said.

Further elaborating, she added, “The intention is never to be disliked. There might be a wrong impression of me for taking a stand today but maybe 10-14 years down the line, I know I will be respected for my stand and my convictions, if not loved.”

Meanwhile, after a huge public outcry, the accused, a resident of suburban Chandivli, was arrested on Monday evening.

He was booked for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty, and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) as the actor is a minor.
