Protests against Padmavati turned violent on Tuesday as the Karni Sena vandalised Aakash cinema hall in Kota, Rajasthan.

In the exclusive video accessed by Republic TV, Karni Sena workers broke the glass and vandalised the theatre property as a mark of protest against the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.

When Republic TV had stung the Karni Sena, earlier this week, the representatives had threatened to take law and order into their own hands.

Today’s violence at a Kota movie theatre, four days after that Karni Sena threat has only raised more questions about the lackadaisical approach of the law and order agencies in Rajasthan.

Earlier today, Padmavati lead actor Deepika Padukone had broken her silence on the Padmavati controversy saying, “The only people we are answerable to is the Censor Board and I know and believe that nothing can stop the release of this film”.

The Padmavati controversy has been circled around the premise that the Bollywood movie distorts history and would toy on the sentiments of the Rajputs. The film is slated for release on December 1, 2017.
