Keir Starmer expresses support to Zelensky

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated his support for the US-led efforts to get a lasting peace in Ukraine

When the news got released that Keir Starmer has voiced his support for Vladimir Zelensky, calling him a democratically elected leader, many asked who is this Starmer !!!

The office of the British prime minister had released this news on Wednesday after his phone call with Zelensky and of course Keir Starmer is the British Prime Minister.

“The Prime Minister spoke to President Zelensky this evening and stressed the need for everyone to work together.

The Prime Minister expressed his support for President Zelensky as Ukraine’s democratically elected leader and said that it was perfectly reasonable to suspend elections during war time as the UK did during World War II,” it said.

“The Prime Minister reiterated his support for the US-led efforts to get a lasting peace in Ukraine.”

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Zelensky’s approval rating had dropped to 4% and if Kiev wants a seat at the negotiating table, it must hold elections.

In response, Zelensky said that Trump had been misled by Russia’s disinformation. On Wednesday, Trump once again pointed to Zelensky’s low ratings and called him a dictator for his refusal to hold elections.

The presidential election in Ukraine was to be held in March 2024 but was cancelled due to martial law. Many experts say however that the president’s term cannot be extended amid martial law, unlike the mandate of the Verkhovna Rada, or national parliament.

Although Vladimir Zelensky’s office term officially expired on May 20, 2024, he says that the issue of his legitimacy is of little concern for him.

So the rogue who has dragged Ukraine a rich and prosperous country into an entirely unnecessary devastating conflict with Russia, for his personal desire of joining NATO, is desperately clinging to power.
