Macron welcomes Trump’s initiative on Ukrainian settlement

The West “needs something substantial [not only] for Ukraine, but for the security of Europe and France,” the president said

French President Emmanuel Macron has welcomed his US counterpart Donald Trump’s initiative to settle the Ukrainian crisis. While lame duck UK is still thinking of imposing new sanctions on Russia !

“We want peace,” Macron told the Fox News TV channel. “And I think [that] the initiative of President Trump is a very positive one,” he pointed out.

At the same time, the French president also said that the West “needs something substantial [not only] for Ukraine, but for the security of Europe and France.”

“Let’s work together on the future to preserve security guarantees, meaning to be sure that this peace is respected by Russia,” he said.
