It is not only visually appealing and fit for clicking pictures , the Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro station on the Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar Pink line provides direct connectivity between the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station and the Sarai Kale Khan Inter State Bus Terminus. In near future this is going to turn into a major city transportation hub.
The station will also welcome passengers on three levels as against the usual two. A mezzanine floor has been added along with the concourse and platform levels. On Tuesday, the maximum crowd was witnessed at the Hazrat Nizamuddin and the Mayur Vihar 1 metro stations. This is solid NewYear gift for people in New Delhi.
The Ashram metro station is already in the record books for being the world’s smallest station with a length of just 151.6 metre against the usual 265 metre. The platform for a six coach train is 140 metre but has been reduced to 135 metres in the Ashram station. nothing less than a New Year gift.
Built under space constraint, the three underground metro stations-Vinobapuri, Ashram and Hazrat Nizamuddin are no less than a window to the history of the societies surrounding the metro stations.
Enter Vinobapuri metro station and one is overwhelmed by the colorful vistas. Hazrat Nizamuddin metro station is adorned with soulful paintings of jharokhas, sufis and women courtiers. Many like Varsha Chaudhary, a lawyer who lives in Kidwai Nagar, were overwhelmed by the ambience.
“I boarded the metro from INA and am headed to the Karkardooma. This line is so graceful, it looks better than the Airport Express line,” she said.
“Travelling in auto rickshaw from AIIMS to the railway station (Hazrat Nizamuddin) would be expensive and troublesome. This metro line has certainly eased travel for people like me who come from outside Delhi as the metro station is closer to the railway station. I could not have asked for a better New year gift,” said Kumar who took Pink Line from INA to Hazrat Nizauddin metro station.
The new facility has brought metro connectivity for the first time to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, the third busiest in the capital. The travelling convenience apart, the 9.7 km Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 section of Delhi Metro’s Pink Line which opened on Monday has shrunk the distance between South and East Delhi from nearly 35 minutes to less than 15 minutes.
For Enakshi Gupta who studies in PGDAV College, and lives in Mayur Vihar, heading to South Delhi markets like Lajpat Nagar and South Extension would, before Monday, mean an extra travel of 30 minutes to switch to yellow line.”In between classes, I like to explore. With this metro line operational, I can easily go to Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, shop, eat and return and attend classes,” she said.
