Moscow Dhaka close friends

It was encouraging to hear Ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh Alexander Mantytskiy reiterate that despite the volatility of the global world order, Russia was determined to continue being a reliable partner to its allies, including Bangladesh. These two nations share an extremely special bond dating back to our Liberation War, and it is good to see that both nations are keen to strengthen the ongoing relationship.

Among Bangladesh’s greatest strengths has been the adoption of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s call to offer “friendship towards all and malice towards none.” This has been the guiding philosophy of our nation’s foreign policy for decades now.

There remains untapped potential for the relationship between both nations; Russia’s vast experience in industrialization and technological advancements can yet be invaluable for Bangladesh’s manufacturing and infrastructure sectors. Through knowledge-sharing and joint ventures, our nation could further benefit from Russian expertise in areas such as energy, engineering, and heavy industries, leading to not only economic growth but also contribute to the creation of skilled employment opportunities for our youth.

With our ambitions as a nation over the next two decades, our diplomacy efforts and successfully forging strategic partnerships with nations will play a major role in ensuring we are successful with reaching our goals. We must continue to strengthen our ties with our most important and trusted allies, and Russia has time and time again proven that it continues to be of significant importance to our economy.
