New Suez Canal section put into operation

A new expanded section in the southern part of the Suez Canal was actually put into service, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie said.

“The expanded section of the Suez Canal implemented within the framework of the project on reforming its southern part actually started its work,” Rabie said, cited by the authority on its page in Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta designated as extremist in Russia).

Implementation of waterway expansion plans “evidence readiness of canal authorities to meet all the requirements of the evolving maritime shipping industry and provide for safety of the latter at the highest level,” he added.
