Next aim is to retrieve parts of PoK to merge them with India: Jitendra Singh
The Modi government is now aiming at retrieving parts of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to make them part of the Indian mainland. This is what Union minister Jitendra Singh has said while also adding that this has been on the agenda of not just BJP, but also the Congress-led coalition government of late PM Narsimha Rao.
Speaking at an event on Tuesday, Jitendra Singh said, “Next agenda is retrieving parts of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and making it a part of India. It is not only my party’s commitment, but it was also part of a unanimously passed resolution of the Parliament in 1994. This was passed by the Congress-led government of Narsimha Rao.”
Earlier, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh had made a similar for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370.
Rajnath Singh had said that the Modi government is not interested in discussing Kashmir with Pakistan any longer but can talk about PoK.
At the UNHRC session in Geneva on Monday, India led its charge against Pakistan’s allegations with a counter-attack over human rights violations in PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan’s human rights record in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and carving out of Gilgit-Baltistan as a separate territory from the PoK were also brought up to attack the Imran Khan government.
A few weeks ago, Pakistan’s opposition leader Bilawal Bhutto embarrassed the Imran Khan government by saying that Pakistan is now barely able to save PoK because of the current regime.
Bhutto who is chief of the main opposition party in Pakistan said, “Earlier our policy on Kashmir was about taking Srinagar, now it is about saving Muzaffarabad.”
Muzaffarabad is the capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Bhutto blamed Imran Khan government’s weak policies for the current state of affairs.
