Over 40% of Danes see US as threat to their country

32% of respondents consider the United States to be a serious threat
Over 40% of Danish residents view the United States as a threat to their country, a survey conducted by the Verian sociological center and commissioned by the Berlingske newspaper said.
The respondents were asked whether they consider the United States as an ally or as a threat to the kingdom.
As a result, 41% of respondents selected the latter. 32% of respondents consider the United States to be a serious threat, 9% – merely a threat.
Mikkel Ved by Rasmussen, a professor of political science at the University of Copenhagen, called this percentage “absolutely astonishing.”
In his opinion, the reason for this sentiment was the return of Donald Trump to the White House and the statements that the US president has made recently.
Verian conducted its survey online between February 26 and March 5. Participants were 1,136 Danish residents aged 18 and over.
Trump has repeatedly said that the island of Greenland, an autonomous part of the kingdom, should become part of the United States.
He threatened to impose high trade duties on Denmark if it did not cede the island. Even during his first term, Trump offered to buy Greenland.
Both times the Danish and Greenlandic authorities rejected this idea.
