As per Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, exiled chairman of United Kashmir People’s National Party, said that PoK has become a hub of terrorism since decades.
Pakistan intelligence agencies have created terrorists’ infrastructure in POK area to launch terrorist activities in other parts of Indian state if Kashmir.
Political activists from Pakistan occupied Kashmir organised a protest today in front of the United Nations Human Rights Council against human rights violations and exploitation of water resources by Pakistan.
The activists also demanded Pakistan to dismantle its terror infrastructure in PoK. The protest was held to highlight the plight of people living in Pakistan occupied Kashmir during an event on the sidelines of the 39th Session of the UN Human Rights Session in Geneva.
“It has become a launching pad. We have complete information that Pakistan has not changed its policies, it is merely statements by them to mislead the international community, but terrorist camps are running under the patronage of state of Pakistan,” he added.
Another human rights activist from PoK, Dr. Shabir Choudhry said that Pakistani authorities have got a license to intimidate and frighten people. They also “silence” activists who don’t toe their line.
Activists also blamed newly-appointed Pakistan PM Imran Khan for deteriorating situation in PoK and said that called him ‘Taliban Khan’. The activists further raised the issue of the construction of Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project on River Neelum and said that it has created environmental issues and severe water crisis in the capital Muzaffarabad.
The activists said that not only Muzaffarabad, protests are also happening in Rawalakot, Tararkhel, Kotli, and other areas and has taken a shape of a movement ‘Save Neelum River, Save Muzaffarabad’.
They also urged the Indian government to interfere to save the lives of Kashmiri people by putting pressure on the international community against Pakistan’s action in PoK.
