Hamza Ali Abbasi (born June 23, 1984) is a Pakistani theatre, film and television actor, model and director. He is known for his roles as Afzal in the drama serial Pyarey Afzal, and as Salahuddin in the drama serial Mann Mayal.
He recently shared stage with Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed and he also praised Hafiz Saeed.

Earlier, Hamza Ali Abbasi made headlines by sharing his stance on using item numbers to sell movies.
The Mann Mayal star took to social media to unabashedly criticise how the censor board is allowing movies with item numbers to be run on the channels. “Its heart-breaking and disappointing to see some brilliant Pakistani film-makers still using item numbers to sell their films,” he wrote.

Soon after Abbasi’s tweet, Twitteri called out the actor for his role in the blockbuster Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, wherein the actor worked with a bikini-clad woman in one particular scene.
Now, Bollywood director Karan Johar has shared his thoughts and confessed that he has made a mistake by using women’s sexuality to sell films, reports India Times.
“The moment you put a woman in the center and a thousand men looking at her lustingly, it’s setting the wrong example. As a filmmaker, I have made those mistakes and I will never do it again,” said Johar.
Hamza then took to Twitter to quote Johar, hoping that people might understand the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director’s stance on item numbers since his wasn’t received too well.

With Johar’s quote, Hamza captioned the image, “When I spoke against item numbers, our desi modernities lashed at me, calling me a wannabe Mullah. Now, I hope at least this guy’s views will help explain why it’s not okay to use a woman’s sex appeal to sell films. Hope we can focus on art and reject shameful trends like item numbers.”
Abbasi’s previously also swore to not work in anymore films with ‘western ideology.’ The actor posted on Facebook, “I, myself, am ashamed of being a part of this western and Bollywood onslaught and I pledge never to be a part of anything which is against our culture and values. I will make an effort to be what I believe in.”
