“India has become more extremist under the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the same ‘anti-Pakistan, anti-Muslim’ tactic is being applied to win the next polls due later this year.”

The above quote is how THE NEWS reports an incident which occurred in New Delhi. The incident was that of a a 30-year-old woman who was behaving in a very odd manner near India Gate War Memorial. The time was around 8 AM in the morning. Then she suddenly threw her slipper at the Memorial and started shouting slogans like “ Pakistan Zindabad “ etc. and also anti India slogans. Naturally, the Police was alerted and this being a high security area, they arrived within minutes.

The Police after trying to question her, finally took her into custody after arrival of the female constables. As per Police her name was Sultana Khan, in her mid-thirties, and seemed to be mentally unstable and was sent for medical examination. Post arrest details are still awaited.

However THE NEWS at once reported it and presented it as a proof of India becoming intolerant. Imagine a Country where the Courts do not hesitate to hang some one for uttering just a Word against Islam, where women are still butchered in name of Honour, where there is no Freedom of any kind, where bombs are hurled at children school and what not, trying to portray India as an extremist State by such type of reporting.

Dear Editor of THE NEWS, the Indian Police will not refrain from doing their duty. No one will be permitted to throw shoes at our War memorial. However if Sultana Khan is a mental patient then she will be given proper medical treatment. In case she did it under strain, she will be given warning etc and released from custody. LikePakistan she will not languish in jail indefinitely but dealt according to law.

In India Stone throwing / hurling slippers at Soldiers/ war memorials are neither permitted nor tolerated. Therefore in places where those indulging in violent activities or trying to interfere violently in anti terrorist military or Security Forces operations, there they are dealt in equally harsh measures.
